Assistant Professor, AGH University of Science and Technology; Initiator & Former CYBERSEC Programme Director (2014-2019)

Dr. Joanna Świątkowska is an Assistant Professor at AGH University of Science and Technology, where she is engaged in developing AGH’s Cybersecurity Center. She is also a co-initiator and lecturer of AGH’s first cybersecurity bachelor studies. She is the initiator and former Programme Director (2014-2019) of the European Cybersecurity Forum – CYBERSEC. Joanna is a leading voice in the debate on the strategic aspects of cybersecurity, among others as Contributing Editor of the EU Cyber Direct expert platform Directions.

Listed among the 100 Eastern Europe’s emerging technology stars by the Financial Times & New Europe 100 for 2017 and among the Top 20 Women in Cybersecurity by the Women in Tech summit for 2019. She continues her cooperation with the Kosciuszko Institute as Cybersecurity Senior Research Fellow.

As a recognized cybersecurity expert and speaker, she has been involved in numerous national and international initiatives at the intersection of new technologies and public policies. Among others, she was a member of the Advisory Group for Cybersecurity of the Republic of Poland working within the Polish Presidential National Bureau of Security (2016-2017).

Author of numerous articles, reports, and analyses concerning cybersecurity, Joanna is also the  initiator and Chief Editor (2015-2017) of the European Cybersecurity Journal, a public policy-oriented journal concentrated on digital affairs. In 2016 she took part in the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP) on Cybersecurity and Government Interoperability.

She holds a PhD in the field of Political Science. Her thesis concentrated on the influence of new technologies on modern conflicts.
