Analyst, Mercator Institute for China Studies
Rebecca Arcesati is an Analyst at the Mercator Institute for China Studies (MERICS). Her research focuses on the interlinkages between China’s foreign economic policy and its technology and digital ambitions, as well as on their implications for Europe. Prior to joining MERICS, she was involved in a project helping Italian tech startups scale up in China and worked on gender equality with the United Nations in Beijing. Arcesati received an LL.M. in China Studies with a focus on Politics and International Relations from Peking University, where she was a Yenching Scholar. She also holds an MA in International Studies from the University of Turin and studied Chinese language in Beijing and Dalian.
