CEO at CyberUnited, Chairman and Founder of CyberTECH - USA
Darin Andersen is a distinguished professional in cybersecurity and the Internet of Things (IoT) with nearly two decades of experience in the security industry. His leadership, expertise and perspective in the cyber sector have made him a frequent speaker, panelist, moderator, corporate/startup advisor, author and media analyst.
As Chairman/Founder of CyberTECH, a San Diego-based network of tech-inspired startups which Andersen launched in 2013, he encourages best-practices, growth and prosperity in cyber-related technologies. Under his direction, CyberTECH presents dozens of top-tier networking events, forums and conferences throughout the year.
Andersen also serves as Chairman/CEO of CyberUnited, a San Diego-based boutique cybersecurity, big data and predictive analytics firm that he founded in 2013. CyberUnited applies a behavioral psychology framework via machine learning, data, analytics and inferential algorithms to detect and prevent cybersecurity threats within businesses, academic institutions and government agencies.
Previously, Andersen served as Chief Operating Officer (COO) at ESET, an award-winning antivirus solutions company. He was a leading driver in growing the company to over 800 employees worldwide and building an extensive network of malware research centers in nine countries, as well as a network of partners spanning more than 180 countries.
With ESET, Andersen created the “Securing Our eCity” initiative. The initiative, now an independent foundation, was recognized in 2010 by the White House as the “Best Local/Community Plan” by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s National Cybersecurity Awareness Challenge. Currently, he serves as Director of Securing Our eCity Foundations for the City of San Diego and the State of Maryland.
In 2015, Andersen was named a Distinguished Fellow by the Ponemon Institute, a research center dedicated to privacy, data protection and information security policies. He received the Internet of Things award at the 2014 Cybersecurity Excellence Awards, and was named a 2014 Cybersecurity Award-winner (Internet of Things) by the San Diego Business Journal.
A graduate of Claremont McKenna College with a double-major BA degree in Government and Literature, Andersen also earned an MBA in Finance and Operations Management and a second MBA in Information Systems and Operations Systems, both from the University of Southern California.
